What is a precision sizer
As the name implies, a precision sizer is a machine that can size granular material like seeds, rice, barley, wheat, oats, shelled peanuts, beans, and a variety of other small particles. The machine divides these incoming particles into different cylinders based on their width and thickness as they pass through perforations inside the cylinders. The larger materials are then carried to the end of the machine. These precision machines are so precise because of the cylindrical motion, which presents the particle in a variety of directions and angles. Particles are typically put through a precision sizer before they go into a gravity separator.
Precision sizer uses
Precision sizers are commonly used by seed, grain, and milling operations to sort out rocks, twigs, and other unwanted particles that could potentially contaminate a product. Precision equipment frees products of all major contamination by size and shape (for example, round from flat, or whole beans from half beans). Coffee manufacturers will also find precision sizers helpful for sorting out any impurities that may have gotten mixed in with their harvested beans. How do Oliver Manufacturing precision sizers work?
Oliver Size Right precision sizers separate materials by width and thickness to deliver accurate, consistent sizing and cleaner products.
Material enters the sizer and spreads across multiple sizing decks. Each deck contains rows of oblong openings. Particles that are small enough to pass through the openings fall to the next deck. Particles that are too wide or too thick are carried forward and discharged at the end of that deck. This process continues until each particle is sorted by its width and thickness.
A combination of gentle vibration and controlled airflow keeps material evenly distributed across the deck surface, preventing balling or tunneling so every particle has a fair opportunity to be sized.
Deck angle, stroke, and air volume are easily adjusted to match different products and sizing requirements, giving you precise control, repeatable results, and high-quality fractions.
Particles are separated by width and thickness. Smaller particles pass through the openings to lower decks. Particles that are too wide or too thick are carried forward and discharged at the end of the deck where they are removed.
