Some seed processing challenges require more than conventional screening or separation. Oliver Manufacturing offers Westrup brushing machines designed to gently treat the surface of seed and grain while preserving the integrity of the product.

Rotating brushes can separate double kernels and seed clumps, remove seed hairs, husks, dust, and other surface material, and polish or scarify seed for further processing. This controlled mechanical action makes brushing particularly useful for high-value seed and applications where product appearance, cleanliness, and surface condition matter.

More than conventional seed cleaning

Brushing machines address material that traditional screens and separators may not remove effectively. As product passes between a fixed cylindrical screen and a rotating shaft fitted with brushes or beaters, controlled contact treats the surface of the seed without unnecessarily damaging the product.

Depending on the crop and configuration, brushing can help separate double seeds, remove seed or leaves from stems and straw, eliminate seed hairs and other attached material, and polish the seed surface.

Prepare difficult products for better processing
